Fun Learning with 4th Grade Math Worksheets

4th grade math worksheets are beneficial to introduce a certain lesson to students. But it will be better if the worksheets are combined with fun activities. So, students will not think that math is something hard to learn. Students will also not feel bored with the fun activities. With fun activities and right teaching methods, students will be able to learn math more easily. Below are the tips for fun learning with math worksheets for fourth graders.

Use Teaching Materials that Can be Touched

The first tip that you can try is using teaching materials that can be touched by students. For example, 3D measurement worksheets. Instead of asking students to memorize, you can use colorful geometry worksheets so that the learning atmosphere can be more interactive. Or, you can ask students to guess the numbers of blocks placed in a mystery box you have prepared before. Whatever it is, it will be better if you use touchable teaching materials so that students can learn math more realistically.

Tell A Story with Math

Math in the 4th grade is usually more difficult. It starts to involve more complex lessons, such as long division worksheets and decimal worksheets. In order to make the lessons easier to understand, you can teach the students while telling a story. When you give them division worksheets to finish, you can tell a story about a Mom who has some candies and she wants to divide them with their kids. Then, you can throw a question about how many candies are gotten by each kid.

Involve the Students

Kids usually love to learn something that is close to themselves. So, you are suggested to involve the students when you teach math to them. For example, you can tell a story by using a student’s name and his friends’ names to help them finish factoring worksheets. Or, you can take an example of how long the students spend their time in the school. When you are involving students in your teaching method, they will likely pay more attention to you.

Use Real Objects

In the 4th grade, subtraction worksheets and addition worksheets can be taught while playing. It will be better if you use real objects so that the students will be able to learn the concept better. Strong concept understanding will help students to understand the learning materials more quickly. For example, for the subtraction lesson, you can bring some candies to the class. Ask the students to count how many candies you bring to the class. Then, ask a student to eat one candy. Ask them again how many candies are left, and so on.

Use Online Materials

The next tip for fun learning with 4th grade math worksheets is using online materials. In this technology and digital era, it is really easy for you to find interesting learning materials on the internet. Most of the learning materials on the internet involve interesting videos and interactive games. If you want to instantly teach math to your students, you can use those interesting and attractive learning materials available on the internet. So that the students will not find it boring and hard learning math.

Establish Interaction

When you ask students to learn any lessons, you cannot force them to learn. Instead, establish interaction with the students so that they are more ready to learn. Do not doubt to be friends with your students. Give ‘bait’ so that they are more enthusiastic to learn. For example, you can tell the students that you will give them a special gift if they can finish their mental multiplication worksheets. This will also encourage them to do their best to finish the task.

Burn Their Spirit

Burning your students’ spirit is important in the teaching and learning process. Before you start the teaching and learning process, try to burn their spirits by doing something fun, such as singing or playing games. This is purposed to make the students more ready to learn. This tip seems simple but it has a positive effect to create a fun learning situation.

Use Audio Visual Media

The next one is using audio visual media. Using audio visual media is beneficial to get rid of boredom during the learning process. This way, students will be more attracted to learn the lesson with this kind of technology. For example, you can use animations or video just like it has been said before. You can find such learning materials on the internet. With this way, it is hoped that students will be more interested in learning math.

Learning While Drawing

Some students are really into arts, such as drawing and coloring. So, you can try to use arts to teach math to your students. You can try to explain while drawing an object that is being learned. Or, you can use colorful chalks or colorful markers to write down the learning materials. This way, students will likely remember and keep the learning materials in their minds better.

Get Closer with Your Students

Try to get closer with your students. As it has been explained before, be friends with your students. Ask them personally if they have any problems or difficulties in learning math. If they do, help them to solve it personally as well. When your students feel close to you, they will be willing to tell you their difficulties and problems so that they can learn math better.

Those are the tips that you can try to teach math to your students with fun. The fourth graders are basically still kids. They still love to play. So, make sure you involve fun games and fun activities when you are teaching them. You can apply a learning system that consists of small games. This way will make students more interested and easier to understand the lesson. This way, they will not feel pressured and bored when they are learning math. So, are you ready to teach your students with 4th grade math worksheets with fun?
